P.G.I. 10 Days Exhibition -- vol. 16 Arisa Kasai "San Franciscans" July 19 (Thu.) - 31 (Tue.), 2007

Arisa Kasai studied photography in San Francisco. She was attracted to San Franciscans who establish their own identity as an individual, not by their race, nationality, sex, gender, or age, and began photograph people in the subway. She spent days and nights with camera in the subway observing people of distinctive personality, and was waiting for the moment to photograph not looking through viewfinder but just set camera angle sensuously.
"Photographing people in the subway gave me various things to find. I felt that everyone lives by what they think important to themselves, " she said. She found herself as an individual as San Franciscan was.

Born in Yokohama, 1980.
Graduated from the San Francisco State University, Art Department with Photography emphasis, 2004.
Studies under Eiichiro Sakata since 2005.
