HITOSHI FUGO “KAMI / Demolition” 11. 2 FRI - 22 THU, 2001

Huge rolls of paper that were burnt black in a fire broken at a printing house, and the streets of Kobe demolished by Kobe Great Earthquake is the subject of photographs by Hitoshi Fugo exhibited in November.

With a large format camera he records details of both sites, which are not in common expect that they have been destroyed abruptly by enormous outside power. Maintaining a delicate distance from the subjects and avoiding deliberated findings of balanced beauty in them, he tries to capture in photographing a universal meaning of destruction.

Some 30 b/w photographs in 20x24 inches will be shown.
