George Rodger: Humanity 2004. 3. 4. [thu] - 4. 9. [fri]

The first exhibition of George Rodger in Japan, Humanity, is open through Friday, April 9.

It shows more than 60 black and white photographs, mostly taken in the 40s and 50s in such countries as England, Germany, Burma, Sudan and Uganda. Some vintage prints are also shown together.

George Rogder, lover of travels and adventures, was a keen observer of humanity. His photographs taken during the Second World War focus steadily on humanities under diverse circumstances.

His first cross-African journey in 1948 was a start of his life long work of covering the continent. His photographs taken while living with the Nubians and Masais reflect his profound observations of humanity.

He was an active correspondent of the Life during the war and became one of the initial members of Magnum at its foundation in 1947.
