France Osterman

France Osterman and her husband Mark are known as the first person of wet-plate collodion method. They established “Scully & Osterman Studio” in 1991 and give workshops and lectures throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

France Scully Osterman is an artist, writer, teacher and guest scholar at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. She is recognized for her extensive knowledge of early photographic processes including wet and dry-plate collodion, photogenic drawing, albumen and salt print methods. She teaches and gives talks at universities, museums and art schools throughout the US.

As an artist, she received a high reputation for her great work using classical processes.
