Risaku Suzuki, winner of last year’s Ihei Kimura Photographic Award from the Asahi Shimbun, is introduced with his photographs taken in a recent trip to the Mont. Sainte-Victore, known as the mountain Paul Cezanne depicted in more than 30 oil paintings.
Suzuki reconstructs his trip to the mountainous region in France arranging in a new sequence the photographs mostly taken of inconspicuous scenes on the way. In doing so he intends to let his audience follow his trip in experiencing the time he has spent and memories he recalls. He has been appraised highly with this new approach of exploiting photographic possibilities.
More than 20 color photographs including large format prints are exhibited.
Risaku Suzuki was born in Wakayama Prefecture in 1963 and was graduated from Tokyo College of Photography in 1992. Presently he is a lecturer at Waseda University and the college he graduated from.
