PGI cordially invites you to Paris Photo 2026.

PGI is happy to announce our 4th time to participate in Paris Photo (November, 12 – 15, 2026).

To mark the bicentenary of photography, we propose a booth centered on Yasuhiro Ishimoto’s celebrated Katsura series. Ishimoto returned to Japan in 1953 Arthur Drexler, MoMA’s curator of architecture and design sent Ishimoto to Japan to photograph Katsura Imperial Villa. Katsura is an exceptionally important body of work situated at the intersection of Japanese photographic history, architectural photography, and postwar cultural history. It is valued not merely as a photographic record of the villa, but as a reinterpretation of traditional Japanese space through the lens of twentieth-century modernism.

The booth will also place Ishimoto in dialogue with later generations. Osamu James Nakagawa, another immigrant to the United States, explores identity and memory through works made at former Japanese American internment camp sites. Tokuko Ushioda’s debut series Heading into Town, strongly influenced by Ishimoto’s teaching, reflects on human dignity and the ethics of portraying others.
